SITE ANALYSIS. Public/Private Due to accessibility into the church, I have chosen the chancel and added section at the back of the church can be made private. This allows simple understanding to the public that the nave their specific area, with the rest of the church being specifically for staff and young registered autistic adults. Sunlight and Wind-path Analysing the sunlight and wind-path has allowed me to make early design choices within the scheme, which works well with existing natural light. The sunlight will hit the chancel in the morning hours, followed by the nave by noon and afternoon. Figure 9. Figure 7. Figure 10. Structure The current structure of the church is supported by the 12 large pillars that hold once held the churches roof. It now supports the timber roofs that cover the naves edges, with the walls being made of stone. As the church is currently a shell, there is no need for internal supports, due to nothing being supported. The proposed plans for the new structure will be supported by internal, temporary supports, that can be lowered into the structure and taken out vice versa. Figure 8. Figure 11. Page | 14
