READ FOR THE RECORD DAY, 2014 READ TO RISE, SPONSORED BY BGTT | Issue 5 Special Moments at Guayaguayare R.C. School on Read for the Record Day……. 3 Trinidad and Tobago schools celebrate CreaTive ExPressions on Read for the Record Day Launch in Guayaguayare Sponsored by BGTT Guayaguayare students inspired to create their own Bunny Cake with Artist, Candice Sobers. Students gathered for Read for the Record Day launch in Guayaguayare, Trinidad With BGTT sponsorship, the Read to Rise programme launched Read for the Record Day in Guayaguayare R.C school. The sun shined brightly, school children circled the schools playground under the shade and waited anxiously for the Read for the Record day activities to begin. Blessing came first from the Principal Wiseman, an educator committed to improving literacy at Guayaguayare R.C. school. He also welcomed BGTT sponsorship of Read to Rise programme spearheaded by the Bridge Foundation. Opening remarks were then given by Mr. Leslie Bowrin, Head of Social Performance, BG Trinidad and Tobago and representatives from the Local School Board Supervisor 111 and from Mr. Kyron James Local Government Offices. Mr. Leslie Bowrin expressed the commitment of BGTT to improving literacy in Guayaguayare and explained to students that reading will create pathways for their future. Students of the school created the platform for Read for the Record day through listening to stories read by the author of Coconut Dreams, Johnathan De La Rosa and motivational presentation by Dayne Brizan, Marketing Coordinator, TT Pro League. Special day events also included students rendition of Caribbean Folktales followed by Sonja Dumas folktale story and Aunty Fable special Bunny Cakes story along with Candice Sobers drawing Bunny Cakes & Barbara Bridgewater, Education Consultant offering inspirational closing remarks. Children were mesmorized by Candice Sobers stroke of chalk which created a beautiful Bunny Cake and a basket filled of Trinidad and Tobago ingredients. Children of Guayaguayare were asked to creatively assist in filling the basket with Trinidad and Tobago ingredients to make the best Bunny Cake ever.
