Readings Personified through Story-telling
While younger children read Llama Llama Red Pajama older children read a Caribbean authored book My Grommit and My Life and Times which was donated through the Bridge Foundation Read to Rise program which promotes Caribbean authored books to raise cultural awareness among school children .
School readings of My Grommit My Life and Times were personified through story telling at schools . Errol Fabien , a television personality memorized students at Nelson Street R . C . Boys and Girl through storytelling inspired by the Read to Rise folk tale . . At Nelson Street Boys the entire school read Grommit My Life and Times in unison standing in a choir arrangements ; other boys of the school read paragraph ’ s of Grommit interchangeably . Alongside Soca Artist “ Fireball ”, Errol Fabien expressed his appreciation for the Read for the Record Day event and the new Read to Rise initiative .
Author Offers Lessons Other children at St . Agnes A . C and St . Andrew ’ s Private School experienced the story through the words of author who wrote the book . Andy Campbell gave an historical record of Grommit and shared why vultures like Grommit should be protected because of their efficient role in eating garbage and human left overs that are hazardous to humans but are necessary diet requirements for a vulture survival .
Other schools read Grommit in school assemblies Some schools read Grommit during library hours .
Other schools studied the life style patterns of Vultures like Grommit
Even younger children listened to the Grommit stories read by their teachers .
