The beers on tap were pretty much all from national brands . And even the craft ones were brands that belong to the big national corporations . It was okay if you need a place to have a quick beer , but hardly a good dive bar . We made a note of that and moved on . Next up , Blue Shark Ale House . It was a little better , same thing kind of strip mall bar . They had a better selection of craft beer . They had local Des Moines beers and some Iowa beers as well as some of the Nationals . The atmosphere was a little more to my liking . Still basically a strip mall type feel so I ’ m not going to rate is as a dive bar . The girls found another thrift store . A short drive to that one and as luck would have it across the parking lot was a place called Shotgun Betty ’ s . We had to check it out . On the outside it pretty much looked like your typical strip mall bar . However , on the inside , they had done it up very well . I in my opinion it qualified as a good dive bar . The floor was made of actual old rustic wood , not the vinyl that looks like old wood . I mean heavy planks with depressions and gouges , you know wood that had been used and abused over the years . The walls were decorated with a mixture of barn wood and tin . It had a really good dive bar feel . The cabinets where the liquor is stored had wire across
