1.5 Implementation The Brewarrina Shire DMP is the starting point for consolidating and growing the visitor economy over the next five years. It will however take time, funds and resources and commitment to implement the strategies and actions incorporated in this Plan. Given the limited resources available within the Shire actions need to be prioritised. While there are a number of relatively simple, cost effective actions that can be undertaken in the short-term that will result in growth in visitation, sustaining visitation in the medium to longer term will only be achieved if the Shire’s tourism product and infrastructure base continues to be improved and expanded. This will require a strong partnership between Council and the Shire communities; support from tourism and business operators; and strategic relationships with surrounding LGAs, touring route marketing groups, Destination Network Country and Outback and NSW National Parks and Wildlife; as well as funding support from the State and Federal Governments and the philanthropic sector. To be effective, the DMP must be a living document that is constantly evolving. The recommended actions need to be implemented and the results evaluated. Periodically the DMP will need to be revised, building on what has been achieved, so that Brewarrina Shire can continue to move forward. 1.6 Abbreviations Used in this Plan 4WD ABS DCO DMP DNCO DNSW LALC LGA MTB NPWS REDS RMS RV TRA VEAP VFR VIC Four-wheel driving (off road) Australian Bureau of Statistics Destination Country and Outback (Destination Network Region) Destination Management Plan Destination Network Country and Outback Destination NSW Local Aboriginal Land Council Local Government Area Mountain Bike NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service Regional Economic Development Strategy Roads and Maritime Services Recreational Vehicle (eg motorhome, campervan) Tourism Research Australia Visitor Economy Action Plan Visiting Friends and Relatives Visitor Information Centre 5 BREWARRINA SHIRE DESTINATION MANAGEMENT PLAN 2019 - 2022
