The Plan also identifies the need to improve and maintain roads, invest in telecommunications infrastructure (internet and mobile phone), beautify towns and villages, invest in
recreation facilities and encourage the development of a vibrant food and beverage sector, which will help to support and grow the tourism (and other) sectors.

Brewarrina Shire
2.4.1 Brewarrina Shire Community Strategic Plan 2026
The Brewarrina Shire Community Strategic Plan 2026, articulates the vision, directions and
framework for coordinating development, resource allocation and service delivery within the Shire.
The Plan focuses on:
 Strengthening the Shire community and improving quality of life to retain existing residents and
attract new residents
 Growing and diversifying the Shire’s economy to reduce the dependence on agriculture
 Providing quality, well-maintained infrastructure
 Encouraging vitality and leadership in the community
 The provision of quality, cost effective Council services
 Partnering of Council and the community in decision-making
 Ensuring that the community is inclusive and encourages the development of young people.
The Community’s vision for the Shire is:
Create an economic and socially sustainable Brewarrina Shire for our children
The Plan recognises tourism as a viable industry for the Shire, with the potential to inject new money
into the local economy, provide employment, help to sustain local businesses and potentially attract
new investment The Plan has, as one of its Economic objectives: Enhance the experience of visitors
to Brewarrina Shire (Objective 2.2).
