with her Fall/Winter 2014 collection. The 25-year-old designer’s 27-piece collection called, “Prima,” premiered February 6th in a downtown New York City studio.
Streater’s inspiration for “Prima” came from a photograph of the Russian “Prima Ballerina” herself, Anna Pavolova. With the studio filled with fashion insiders, editors, and bloggers, her ultra-feminine collection featured distinct black and white patterns. Streater then balances the prominent patterns with abstract floral prints in pink and dusty rose hues. After watching her on “Project Runway” and seeing her latest work, it is apparent to me that Streater has an affinity for silhouettes from the 1950s and 60s yet puts a modern, fresh twist on them with her expert use of bold prints.
