Permethrin treatment is meant only for clothing and shoes and is available as a ready to use spray .

Gypsy Moth makes a comeback

Did you know that the gypsy moth is an example of an experiment gone
horribly wrong ? The moth was brought to the United States in 1869 in an attempt to start a silkworm industry . The experiment failed . The gypsy moth escaped and has since become a major pest in the Northeast and Canada . Although these fuzzy creatures haven ’ t presented a big problem since the early 1980 ’ s , they reared their ugly heads last season and are poised to be an equally large challenge as winter moth this year . Gypsy moths hatch later in the season so winter moth controls are not effective . They are not fussy eaters and target a wide variety of trees - ranging from mild to total defoliation .
