Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Elementary School
Team ORANGE Our Lady of Fatima School is an inclusive school community. Grade 8 students and Mrs. Orange, teacher of the Severe Needs / Moderate Class, are supporting inclusivity in our school through the TEAM ORANGE initiative supported by a Speak Up Grant. This is what the grade 8 members have to say:“ We, the grade 8 students, wanted to have a club that would be able to make our school an inclusive environment. Our motto is‘ Pay it Forward’. We have 10 executive roles and up to 40 members throughout the school. We support the Environmental Club, the Virtues Program, and make daily announcements on how to treat one another. We support inclusivity of
the entire school body. We have started Litterless Lunches and Meatless Tuesdays. We will save energy by participating in the Toronto Zoo’ s Bundle Up For Polar Bears on International Polar Bear Day, February 27, 2013. On that day all students and staff will be asked to wear an extra sweater as our head custodian, Mrs. Marche, will turn down the school’ s heat by two degrees. We are also looking forward to two of our classes participating in the Toronto Conservation Authority’ s Yellow Fish Road awareness program on May 7th. This program promotes Canadians to become leaders in their community by raising awareness about pollution entering local waterbodies through storm drains.
