Our LNG team advises across the full value chain— from liquefaction and LNG sales through to regasification and downstream distribution. We have acted for governments, sponsors, developers, financiers and contractors on major LNG import and export projects in the US, Australia, the Middle East, Africa and Europe, bringing tested knowledge of the commercial and regulatory landscape in each market. We advise on project structure, host government arrangements, LNG sale and purchase agreements( long and short-term), FSRU charters and terminal use agreements— from early-stage development through to financial close and beyond.
Our lawyers have advised on:
- Proposed floating LNG liquefaction projects in Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, the US and Canada
- Disputes relating to the scheduling of LNG cargoes, price reviews, take-or-pay and force majeure
- Issues in connection with LNG Sale and Purchase Agreements
- The negotiation of host government agreements for LNG projects
• Chevron— advised on various aspects of the development of the Wheatstone and Gorgon LNG export projects in Western Australia *
• Delfin LNG— development of the Delfin floating LNG project in the Gulf of Mexico n / k / a Gulf of America
• Excelerate Energy— advised the vessel owner and operator on the time charter of an FSRU for the Ruwais Offshore LNG Terminal in Abu Dhabi and the Jebel Ali LNG Import Terminal in Dubai *
• Gastrade— advised the operator on development of the Alexandroupolis LNG Import Terminal in Greece. The Alexandroupolis Terminal is the largest LNG terminal in Europe to receive permitting and EU funding during the period 2021 – 2024 *
• Ophir Energy plc— $ 2 billion floating LNG project offshore Equatorial Guinea, including host government arrangements, LNG sales agreements, chartering agreements, joint venture arrangements, project financing, and construction
• Texas LNG— advised the sponsor on the development of an LNG liquefaction and export terminal in the United States *
• The Government of Mozambique— advised the government on all aspects of the Mozambique LNG export project including unitization agreements, onshore liquefaction and FLNG FEED contracts, and LNG sale and purchase agreements for equity holders and third-party buyers of approximately 35 million tons per annum of liquefied natural gas from multiple gas fields *
• The Jordanian Government— advised on a smallscale LNG import facility *
• The Office of the Energy Regulatory Commission of Thailand( OERC)— advised on the development of a regional liquified natural gas( LNG) trading hub, including a third-party terminal access code and associated regulatory reforms required to allow third party LNG imports into Thailand.*
