BQ: How long have you been in business and what made you start in the industry you are in?
JR: I have been formally in business for five years. I started a publishing company for my books and because someone saw my books, they wanted to pay me to publish their book. The business literally came to me.
BQ: What motivated you to start in business?
JR: When the person approached me about publishing their book, I could have turned them down but it was an opportunity, challenge and a way to help someone else realize their dream to publish a book. I had no idea that it would turn into the business that it is today.
BQ: Has it been difficult, as a woman, to build your business?
JR: It has been difficult to build the business because I still teach. I have been a teacher / media specialist for 21 years. Being bivocational is tricky and logistically challenging but right now it works for me. My schedule is packed tight but I love what I do. I am also thankful for a supportive husband and a fabulous team that allows me to do it all. My father was a teacher, had a business and was a leader in our church locally, regionally and internationally. Entrepreneurship is in my blood. I can ' t deny it. I embrace it because I helped my father build his business and with those skills, build my own.
BQ: Our founder, Dana Williamson also comes from a family of entrepreneurs; are you working on any new projects?
JR: I continue to write my own books as well as publish, coach, market and promote other people ' s books. Right now, I will be releasing two series, a three-part romance fiction and the other a three-part series titled, " Write. Publish. Promote that Book Now
BQ: Congrats! How many books have you published, and where can we find your work?
JR: I have published 30 books of my own and 60 books of other authors. My books are located at Amazon. com, Barnes & Noble. com, NOOK and KINDLE, visit www. bkroystonpublishing. com and http:// bit. ly / juliaroystonstore
BQ: As a business woman, do you believe you are a speaker in your field? I. e. Will you share you story to help others?
JR: As a certified teacher, I love and am honored to speak about my field / industry. I would love to share my story to help others and do it daily given the person ' s interest and opportunity.
BQ: That is wonderful. Not everyone realizes they have a story to tell. Any special words of encouragement for other women?
First, do what you love and passionate about. We only have this one life to live. Second, learn everything you can about your industry. Keep up with it. Read, study and follow the leaders in your industry on social media and throughout any other media outlets. Third, realize that everyone is not your client and if they reject you, keep moving. No is a part of being in business. It ' s business. Finally, handle your business with integrity, fidelity and character. Mistakes will be made. People will lie, cheat and steal. Correct the mistakes and put the processes, technology and people in place to not let the mistakes repeat themselves. Don ' t dwell on the liars just learn the lesson and keep moving. At the end of the day, deliver in the spirit of excellence.
