got him back on track and subsequently took Ryan to the European title and then fought for the World title. That was fantastic and well deserved. I say 'probably' because I also had Kell Brook win the British Title with me and he is one kid that has enormous potential. He could go on to be something really special in the future.

What's your biggest achievement in boxing?

Another difficult one! There are several highlights - putting together World Heavyweight title fights at Hayemaker was great. I was also working with Kell Brook when he won his British title and of course was alongside Ryan when he won his European title and fought for the World belt. We put together a Tony Bellew fight at the Echo Arena which was massive, and in this last year have really loved the Woodhouse/Miles and Farrell/Crolla fights which were proper tear ups! There's been too many to really put my finger on one that stands above the others.

Was it hard to get your own gym up and running?

I've had my own gym since I was 25 but the interesting thing about my current gym is the educational aspect to it. Linking up with Spencer (Fearn - Dave's business partner) has been fantastic as it has allowed us to offer an education facility at the gym for kids who are disengaged with the traditional educational establishments. We've just opened up our second outlet in Basildon, Essex and we're both really proud of the fact that we are keeping kids off the street and giving them something that will hopefully help them get a job at the end of it. It's great to feel we are giving something back.
