As the third round got under way, both boxers touched gloves then Foot landed a solid overhand right followed by Evans landing a clean left hook. Evans was able to get Foot up against the ropes for a short period as he landed a couple of clean shots but Foot came right back at him. Foot then landed three to four solid overhand rights towards the final minute of the round as he looked to finish the fight strong, but Evans landed a sneaky left hand to the body of Foot which hurt him.
Evans then went looking for more body shots and big right hands late on but did not succeed.
Evans had lost the fight and his unbeaten record as Foot claimed a 28-29, 29-28, 29-28 split decision and was crowned the new Prizefighter Welterweight III champion!
Promoter, Eddie Hearn, believes it to be the best Prizefighter tournament yet and many fans who also saw the action agreed, as well as myself. It really was a great spectacle!
The 29th edition of Prizefighter is only 29 days away now and I for one hope it is as good as this!
The International Heavyweights III Prizefighter is on Saturday 23rd February 2013 at the York Hall, Bethnal Green, London. The action starts at 21:00.
