Over 50 of the best dog handlers from Across
Australia attended Wallumbilla on August
11-18, 2019 with over 180 dogs entered into
the open competition and over 150 entered
into the Novice and Maiden competitions.
The annual state of Origin competition was
hotly contested Saturday night between Qld
and NSW and the competition was fierce. Six
competitors and their dogs were chosen to
represent each state from scores obtained at
trials across the year. The entertainment and
competition was excellent with NSW running
out the winners on the night.
The weather was not kind to animals or
people but it didn’t deter the triallers or their
dogs. Up against 50km winds at times over
the three days, the winners were eventually
decided on Sunday.
Paul Wroe from Middlemount with Tippy took
out the Santos Open Australian
Championship. Jamie Sturrock from Dulacca
with Seth won the Novice Championship and
local lad Ross Kehl from Wallumbilla with
Boots took out the Australian Maiden
Championship.
The P&C and Benderoo Bulls supported the
event all weekend in the canteen and bar with
local sponsors again providing their loyal
support for the event. Santos; Qld Working
