Surat area Surat Diggers Races Since 1848, racegoers have flocked to the Warroo Sporting Complex, on the Surat Developmental Road, to experience thoroughbred racing at its finest - please make plans to join us on Saturday, 21 September, to share the thrill of being trackside and witness the running of the "Surat Diggers’ VJ Butler Memorial Cup". Country race days are only possible due to the infinite passion and tenacity of Surat Diggers’ Race Club members and volunteers coupled with the substantial generosity of our valued sponsors - each contribution, whether in-cash or in-kind, is vital to ensure our Cup’s prize money, our Purse, continues to attract the greatest talent competing within the Australian-racing industry today. This year, the purse is $79,500 - a massive sum sure to catch the eye of Australia's keenest owners, trainers, and jockeys. Racegoers can expect a great day of entertainment beginning with our ticketed Charity Luncheon-in-the marquee, (supporting LifeFlight Foundation Qld and Royal Flying Doctor Service Qld), before the thrilling 5-race programme, with bookmakers on course, commences at 1:30pm, followed by a hotly-contested Fashions-on-the-Field competition before enjoying the great sounds of DJ Johnny Mac until late. There will be something for everyone at Warroo Sporting Complex, Surat Developmental Road, from all-day access to ATM, bar and canteen facilities, to ice cream on the "moooove" with Bessie's Ice-cream Bus, and children under 13 are sure to enjoy the fun of free face-painting and access to jumping castle.
