‘Yonder There’ opens in Mitchell
‘Yonder There’, an exhibition of contrasting
works by Emily Donaldson and Samuel
Russel Smith opened at the Mitchell on
Maranoa Gallery to great reviews on
September 6, 2019. Both artists are drawn to
Australian landscapes, yet they capture
different impressions of the environment in
their work. The juxtaposition between their
styles is clear both in the emotions shared
with the viewer, and the use of textures
present on the canvas. Emily Donaldson has
a Bachelor of Creative Arts (USQ) majoring in
Visual Arts and Samuel Ross Smith has a
Bachelor of New Media Arts (JCU). Both
young artists are currently working out of
Townsville and were given a warm welcome to
Mitchell on their opening night. There is still
plenty of time to enjoy this wonderful
exhibition which closes on October 18, 2019.
