Mitchell on Maranoa Gallery
Mitchell on Maranoa Gallery is proud to
share an amazing sculpture created by Dion
Cross. The bull was created by Dion
approximately 14 years ago and many will
remember it taking pride of place outside the
Court House Hotel. The sculpture was
donated by Carol and Merv Yarrow to the
gallery upon the sale of the Court House and
since then the bull has been standing out in
the courtyard greeting visitors who explore the
outside art. In 2019 the Friends of the Gallery
decided it needed to be shared more openly
with the community and the many visitors who
travel through our region and with the help of
the Maranoa Regional Council as of the 24 th
of January The Bull stands proudly on his
plinth to greet the world.
The Mitchell on Maranoa Gallery current
exhibition “Block by Block” by Leearna
Saunders is an interesting display of
handmade block printed clothing. Leearna, a
textile artist and designer is all about upcycle
and recycle, her creations are different,
exciting, intriguing and definitely something to
go and have a look at. Block by Block is on
display from Sat 29 th Feb to Thursday 9 th April
2020.
