Injune Races
Winter is the season for arts in the Injune area
with plenty going on and plenty being planned.
A Create and Thrive workshop was held on
June 7, a three day photography workshop
with Louise Gronold was held from June
14-16 and a colourful exhibition by Susie Klein
opened at the Injune Creek Gallery on June
15 (supported by QAS and Uniting Care who
were raising awareness of domestic violence).
The second half of the year is also looking
busy with the annual Creative Odyssey to be
held from August 17-18, a pencil portrait
workshop with Maxine Thompson from
September 7-9 and the year will culminate in
the Santos Injune Art Show to open on
November 15 in conjunction with a Christmas
Makers Market. Contact Debbie Duff 0447 125
115 from Injune Arts for further information on
any of these events. Further up the highway
the Wallaroo Art Group (contact Sally West
4626 7159) will be holding a Lampshade and
Upholstery workshop at Wallaroo Bush
Retreat from September 7 – 8.
Weather plays a big part in outdoor events
and the big dry caused the cancellation of the
Injune Campdraft earlier in the year but,
ironically, it was rain that caused the
cancellation of local races at the Santos
Injune Race Day. Undeterred by the wet and
cold conditions (and lack of real horses),
about 200 people still frocked up to enjoy an
afternoon of phantom racing and betting on
metropolitan races with the attendant
bookmakers.
