Injune
Volunteer Day
It was Volunteer Week from May 20-26 and
Injune kicked off proceedings with a morning
tea for volunteers at Henricks Park on the
Monday. One of the town’s most cherished
volunteers, Joy Denton, spoke about the
benefits of giving time to others and outlined
the numerous opportunities in Injune, from
hospital and emergency services support to
the Injune Visitor Information Centre. Helen
Wassman and Rohan Ballon from QLD Health
were on hand, encouraging Injune residents to
join the Healthy Communities Initiative and
walk 10,000 steps a day. Loretta Johnson
from QLD Ambulance then addressed the 30
attendees and publicly thanked the volunteers
who drive the Injune ambulance and
participate on the Local Ambulance
Committee, the link between the community
and the ambulance service. As Loretta said:
“We have locals giving to locals to save locals
and if we don’t have volunteers we don’t run.”
The morning concluded with a sausage sizzle
put on by QLD Ambulance.
Red keeps giving Injune IN July
A whopping $27,283 was raised at the recent
RED Day held at Bymount and the committee
have shared the proceeds with numerous
community groups. In thanks to the support
they provide on the day $500 was given to
Emerald and Charleville Remote Area Family
Services and to the Bymount P&C. Major
donations of $5000 each were given to local
ambulance committees in Injune, Mitchell,
Surat and Roma, and $5723 was gifted to
Lifeflight. Congratulations to everyone
involved in this most successful day. 1-29 Susie Klein exhibition at Injune Creek

across the fire with Wallaroo’s Justin

(the top came off the salt shaker), there was
adverse weather (it tried to rain) and there
were dozens of food critiques, but the line to
the tasting table was long with return
tasters. Once bellies were full Fiona Vincent
addressed the crowd to talk about the
inspiring work of Injune Creek Patchworkers
who make items for cancer patients. Fiona
then conducted the eagerly anticipated
multi-draw raffle with many goods donated
by local businesses and crafts people.
