Roma | Muckadilla area Noela Clohessy recognised with St Vinnies award Lapidary & Mineral Society On June15 and 16 the Roma Lapidary & Mineral Society Club hosted a workshop with visiting Lapidarians Noel and Jenny from Cairn’s for a Wire Wrapping & Faceting workshop. The 10 participants all completed at least two wire wrapped polished stone pendants and greatly enjoyed the successful weekend. Gerard Mulligan and Members of the St. Vincents de Paul Society in Roma hosted a Dinner for Margaret Lawton, Diocesan President of Saint Vincent DePaul Society, Toowoomba and the South West, Kathie Brosnan, CEO of SVDP, Toowoomba and South West and Whitney Clift, Retail Co- ordinator for Vinnies retail outlets, Toowoomba and the South West. The three were travelling together to show Diocesan President Margaret ,the Vinnie outlets in the Western area of the Diocese and to allow Margaret to meet and greet with Volunteers , staff members and conference members in the various towns. At this function Margaret took the opportunity to present Roma Vincentian , Noela Clohessy with an award.The award was for Recognition of Outstanding Service in providing comfort and assistance to people affected by the 2018/2019 Queensland Drought. Tallahassee Ries, Jayli Schuurman, Shanara Campbell, Kira Collie all accompanied by handsome partners. This year the Maxine was the Presentation Dance with music for the evening supplied by Nathan and Trinnette Walmsley and band. The vote of Thanks was given by Debs Shauna Fisher and Amy Shaw. The combined Catholic and Anglican Ball attracted over 180 family members and friends to the Dedication Service by Father Jamie Collins, bouquet presentation, and then the Ball. The Cultural centre was tastefully adorned in pink and white decorations laid out by a team of volunteers and parents. The offical party included Father Jamie Collins, Sister Nora Fitzgibbon, Mayor Tyson Golder, Mrs Natalie Golder, Anglican Representative Mrs. Sheryl Arnold, Catholic Representatives Doctor Alwyn Rapasta and Mrs. Pelle Rapasta, Matron of Honour Mrs. Lynn Bowden and her husband Mr. David Bowden and Maid of Honour Miss Meg O’Brien. The Debutantes were Bronwyn Wright, Shauna Anne Fisher, Connor Grace Bellenger, Amy Shaw, Ella Saunders, Sarah Upton, Emily Godfrey, Caitlin Williamson, Hannah Jane Coonan, Meg McGarth, Gracie Haddock, Fay Ayers, Clem Boughen, Dennis Giles and Ursula Williams proudly display their finished pendants from the Lapidary Club workshop.
