Portion Control: A great way to avoid overeating is to select a salad or dessert plate when the buffet opens. Fill half your plate with healthier options and eat those first. For celebrations where you order your meal, ask the server for double vegetables or vegetarian options. Many restaurants are willing to grill or broil meat/fish to provide you with a healthier option… It can't hurt to ask!

Pour Wisely: Alcoholic beverages can be filled with hundreds of empty calories. Check out lower calorie options prior to attending an event and alternate with glasses of water. My favorite option is prosecco as it only has 80-120 calories per serving and since you sip it, you'll drink it at a slower pace which can reduce you going back for numerous glasses.

Pre-Party Trick: Having a salad or shake prior to going to an event will assist you in making smarter choices once you are there. Going to a party on an empty stomach makes it tougher to make healthy choices.

Drink Extra Water: Be sure to drink as least half your bodyweight in ounces of water each day. If you've been indulging, drink extra water to help cleanse out your system.
