Let's pledge to stay healthy this holiday season! It's a sad fact that many Americans gain up to 10 pounds during the holidays as they use the holidays as an excuse to go on a feeding frenzy. You can enjoy the holidays without expanding your waistline by following these simple suggestions:
●Don't Starve Yourself Prior to a Celebration: Stick to your normal routine. Eat your typical menu, exercise and drink plenty of water just as if you weren't going to a celebration. Starving yourself all day will often lead you to overeat at the party. You can eat more calories at a 2-hour party then you would typically have all day! Plus, eating a huge amount of food in a short period of time can have a negative impact on digestion.
●Get in Some Extra Activity: Don't wait for 1/1/17 to start exercising. Go for a brisk walk, do a fitness DVD at home, go to the gym or stream a workout on any smart tv or web-enabled device. ●Choose wisely: Life is all about choices so make some smart ones to set yourself up for success. When you arrive at the party, make a plate of healthy options and enjoy those first. Avoid having a “I'll just have a little of everything” attitude. Instead, pick 1-2 indulgence items to have a little bit of so you can avoid having “eater’s remorse” the next day.
