Girls in the Old Fourth Ward now have something to do. “We noticed kids walking around aimlessly practically begging for someone to give them something to do, so we did,” KaCey Venning, Co-Founder of HEY (Helping Empower Youth) says. “We started with teaching them how to fix bikes, and now our program (which services both boys and girls) has grown into a fully functioning organization.”

Although they are expanding rapidly, HEY still needs volunteers, mentors, sponsors, donations, and partnerships. Especially as they roll out their newest endeavor, “The EMPOWERED! Leadership Academy. Summer Edition” Which is a week long summer program geared towards teaching young girls to bring about social change in their community. 75 girls ages 12-17 will have the opportunity to participate in small group discussions, role play, interactive workshops, and much more.“Our strategies and techniques are purposed to help these girls understand their own value, bring out their creativity, and to find and use their voice to make better life choices.” KaCey says.

Registration is NOW Open. Click Here or visit them at www.helpingempoweryouth.org to learn more about the summer program and how you can become a much needed HEY partner.
