02 Words from the Chairman’s desk I am constantly amazed by the diversity of the challenges we, as Engineers, are asked to apply our minds to. Our goal is to prepare sustainable, innovative solutions to these challenges, which meet the needs of our Clients and society in general. We are very privileged to be working in an environment where our business success is so closely linked to the positive impact we have on people’s lives in terms of providing infrastructure, improving energy efficiency, developing people and addressing service delivery. Each edition of Enginuity provides us with an opportunity to showcase our successes in achieving our goals. The particular highlights of this edition include the following : 2014 Engineering / Built Environment Woman Professional of the Year Bosch Holdings’ Young Engineer Programme The completion of the first large scale biogas plant in South Africa Individual achievements of some of our staff The opening of our latest new office in Pretoria Successful projects in Brazil, Tanzania, Zambia and Thailand The appointment of the Nakambala Product Alignment and Refinery Project in Zambia. As Bosch Holdings’ 2014 Young Engineer of the Year, Meethan Gokool has certainly carried the Bosch flag and made us very proud. Meethan participated on an international level, as part of the FIDIC Young Professional Management Training Programme, with 40 other young professionals from around the world. The programme is run over a period of nine months and is aimed at expanding the knowledge of professional engineers, beyond that of the technical environment. This covered subjects such as human resources, financial assessment and analysis of a company, business integrity and business development. Most of the programme is run over a virtual platform and culminated with a group meeting and interactive session in Rio, Brazil. At the annual FIDIC Conference, Meethan was one of the YP’s selected to present to the delegates – the topic: ‘The influence that engineering and professional integrity of engineers can have in reducing some of the world’s problems such as poverty and corruption’. Meethan was ranked 2nd amongst the 40 other candidates from around the world. Danai Magugumela – Managing Director of Bosch Stemele. We, as Bosch Holdings, would like to congratulate Meethan Gokool on his successes both on the local and international stage and are proud to have him as part of the Bosch Holdings team. On the evening of the 30th October 2014, the South African Professional Services Awards (SAPSA) held their inaugural awards ceremony to recognise individuals for their professional excellence in various sectors. The awards were given on the basis of the following accomplishments: outstanding contribution to the profession; contributing towards the South African community; commitment to ethics; excellence in customer service; achievement of business and growth targets; industry recognition and contributing to Transformation for the benefit of the previously disadvantaged. We congratulate Danai Magugumela for her success as winner in the category: 2014 Engineering / Built Environment Woman Professional of the Year.
