CARE Values in Action By Whakatāne Hospital Co-ordinator Julie Chapman. Two teams from Whakatāne Hospital recently competed in the local Business House Triathlon held at Port Ohope. Peri-operative team (Jenny Hicks and Lisa Rogers + friend); and Whakatāne Acute Patient flow team - Dave Van Dijk, Jill Cunningham, and Julie Chapman. Teams completed a 400m swim, 12km bike and 2.5km run. We may not have not have taken out top placings on the day, but we worked together, supported each other and crossed the finish line. Compassion - support for one and another to keep going and great empathy for other teams. All one team - a cross section of staff made up our teams. Responsive - we responded to the call to enter the event and just had a go. Excellence - We completed the event in a fit and healthy state with no injuries and generally had a great time.
