The relationship between fashion and
architecture is not a particularly oblique
one. Both are based on structure, shape and
prettying up basic necessities - clothes and
shelter. In this first edition, we spoke with
the Portuguese architect Nuno Meira and
the marketeer / Designer Miguel Meira, two
main collaborators and mentors of a Boom
Bap Wear design projects. They were
involved in the renewed of spaces to the street
shops of Boom Bap Wear in Portugal and
France, they also participated in the concept
and implementation of exhibition stands for
a trade shows, among other projects.
On this short interview with these two
professionals of architecture and design, we
discuss the connection between fashion and
architecture, influences that are behind the
creative process, the new Boom Bap Wear
transportable shop and about features
projects.
Our conversation with Nuno and Miguel
Meira does not end here. In the next edition
of our newspaper, we will return to talk with
the architect and the marketeer /designer to
explore other topics related to fashion
architecture and design.
How did you get the idea to create the
Rubik?
Like almost everything in life, innovation, creation, evolution arise from the
need, the urgency of solving a problem or a
challenge. That can arise by chance, but even
so it should have certainly any idea behind
which
was on the backburner and needs to be
explored. In this case, that arose from a
conversation at work, where it was raised the
convenience of getting the brand, boom bap,
closer to the people and the context in which
the relaxation and the will to live are more
visible - hence the idea of a small appealing
space, that was not static and that could be
easily transported and commissioned.
Which importance do you assign to the
creation of this project?
This project, like any other one is always a
time of tremendous commitment and
satisfaction. Working for the encouragement
and comfort of the people is very rewarding.
Each project has its own particularities and
this, given its characteristics, led us to a
synthesis that makes it a plus, since it can
adapt and reprogram itself for other purposes
that do not necessarily exposure and
potential parts props of clothing.
What makes this store different from the
others on the market?
I don’t think you can call it a store. It’s
almost like a kiosk with mobility – it has
only 5.60 m2. But despite its small size
it is nonetheless a care space we expect to
raise interest. We seek functionality, but also
dynamism and elegance - the fragmentary
character of the piece illustrates this idea, as
they played with the wind ...
It is distinguished from other solutions and
invading the public space. It is not a
monolithic, anachronistic piece.
We believe that leaves an aura of freshness,
which ennobles the place where it will be
exposed.
What were the main challenges you encountered?
The challenges were exactly these: Flee
the standard, without falling into pure
experimentalism. Find a model that at one
time were feasible from a financial view
and mobility, and the other, represented
something new and positive.
We know you work in several areas ...
What is your procedure for creating?
Treat yourself of a building, a factory,
a house, a piece of equipment or furniture,
if part-always in demand to respond to a
program of course with an aesthetic sense.
The architecture has a sense of perpetuity
stemming from not only their physical
character, but especially of his artistic
character.
That is why art is what we need more
enduring. It accompanies us entering in our
soul.
What connects an architect at a company
that produces fashion?
I think there are plenty of reasons to
strengthen this link. The environment

connected to fashion is a maverick, very much
alive and active environment.
Frenzy with many interactions. The designer
envisions their models with a short life
expectancy. It’s almost from season to season.
The architectural education points to another
longevity. The clash of ideas, opinions
always bring good results. Cooperation does
not mean that drowns a few others before
stimulates synergies.
Coco Chanel said, “Fashion is architecture.”
