BAAR BAAR DEKHO Produced jointly by Karan Johar, Ritesh Sidhwani, and Farhan Akhtar, Baar Baar Dekho marks the directorial debut of Nitya Mehra. The romantic comedy centers around two young people who meet, fall in love and get married. But Jai (Siddharth Malhotra) feels suffocated and unhappy in his marriage with Diya (Katrina Kaif). After a fight, the time is fast forwarded and it keeps escalating exponentially until he decides to do something about it. He then plans on working it out with his beloved wife before things get worse. The movie seems like the Hollywood flick Click’s Bollywood interpretation. Slated to release on September 9th, the movie has intrigued us all. 5. PINK This non-commercial thriller starring Amitabh Bachchan and Tapsee Pannu, explores the dark side of what society puts sexual abuse victims through. From the tedious legal battles to the doubts posed by the people towards the survivor, this film digs deeper away from the comfort zone. Slated to release on September 16th, the movie showcases Bachchan Senior essaying a role of a lawyer asking uncomfortable, accusatory and invasive questions from the victim. The trailer appears to have a strong plot and decent acting. Our very own Coke Studio singer, Qurat-ul-Ain Balouch has made her singing debut in Bollywood with this movie with her song Kari Kari. 6. TERI MERI LOVE STORY Another Pakistani love triangle romantic comedy will be exhibited on the silver screen in the beginning of the upcoming month. Under the direction of Jawad Bashir, the film revolves around three main characters played by Ushna Shah (Esha), Mohib Mirza (Nael) and Omer Shahzad (Ramis). As the trailer shows, the two male leads will be battling it out Bollywood style to win the heart of the desi maiden. This is triggered by her decision to marry Ramis instead of Nael. The cast also includes the likes of Mohsin Abbas Haider, Uzma Khan and Laila Zuberi. Teri Meri Love Story is all set to release on September 2nd 2016. 7. AKIRA Clashing with Teri Meri Love Story is the Bollywood action-thriller Akira. Bollywood actress Sonkashi Sinha as Akira Sharma, will be seen fighting in a remake of a female-centric action film donning a role of the rough and tough protagonist. In this action sequence, Sonakshi plays the role of a girl who does not bow down to injustice or bullying and prefers to confront the nemesis with her knuckles, exacting revenge. The trailer sparks interest with a refreshing angle showcased in the film. Produced, co-written and directed by AR Murugadoss, this maybe just the gender bender flick to watch out for this year. 8. BANJO Making a grand comeback in Bollywood is Ritesh Deshmukh with his movie, Banjo. With an impressive soundtrack, the film revolves around the street musicians who are not respected or regarded as true artists. Nargis Fakhri plays someone who recognizes their raw talent and flies all the way from America to record a song with these guys. It is a story of proving the stereotypes associated with street singers wrong and earning their fame through grit and pure talent. Directed by Ravi Jadhav, Banjo will make you dance to its catchy tunes. The movie is set to release on September 23rd. 9 | BOOM
