Exploring Optimal Interventions for Perinatal Anxiety : A Mixed Methods Study
Perinatal anxiety ( PNA ) is anxiety that occurs during pregnancy or up to twelve months post-birth . PNA is estimated to affect 13-20 % women worldwide . In comparison to perinatal depression research , the evidence base around PNA is not as established . I have conducted interview studies with women and healthcare professionals to identify gaps in care provision for women with PNA .
The NHS Five Year Forward View ( 2015 / 2016 ) aimed to improve care for managing PNA and the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence recommended further research around identification of PNA and interventions for PNA be conducted . My research intends to fill a vital gap in the current understanding and delivery of care for women with PNA .
My PhD contains three elements : a systematic review of interventions for PNA ; a study using interviews with stakeholders to explore how services should be provided ; finally , I will co-produce an intervention for PNA with stakeholders .
