If you’re travelling by car:
In case of an emergency
contact ER24
ER24 is a national emergency medical
service and can be contacted for any
medical emergency across South Africa.
Simply dial 084 124 for assistance.
If you come across an accident, unless you
are medically qualified or know first aid, it is
not necessary for you to stop, but call for the
assistance of ER24 immediately providing
as much detail of the incident as possible
including accurate location and landmarks.
1. Check windscreen wipers, oil, water and
brake fluid.
2. Check tyre pressure and thread.
3. Plan your route and have maps.
4. Save emergency numbers on your
cellphone.
5. Carry a first aid kit.
6. Keep water and light snacks in the vehicle.
7. Make sure that your car is well ventilated to
ensure continuous fresh air.
8. Stop every 200km or so or switch drivers
when you feel uncomfortable.
9. Obey the rules of the road.
Before you leave the house
1. Check you have your Bonitas membership
card at all times.
2. Make sure you fill your chronic prescriptions.
Carry your chronic allergy medication with
you and make sure that your alert bracelets
or notifications are clearly visible.
3. Make sure your bags and luggage have locks
and name tags.
4. Do not allow people to tamper with
your bags.
5. Ensure that identifiable hotel staff assist you
with your luggage upon arrival.
6. Never leave your luggage unattended, unless
it is locked away in your room.
7. Keep your room locked at all times.
8. If someone knocks, check who it is before
opening the door.
9. Keep a photocopy of your passport and other
important documentation in your hotel.
