8 . Susan SurfTone - If I Knock 3:33 - The amazing Susan SufTone , the coolest former federal agent I know , is back . I have been digging Susan ’ s stuff for a long time . The woman can play ! God there is almost nothing cooler than a smashing drum intro followed by a gnarly surf guitar . Okay , I guess this is a love song , but in all honesty , I am too busy listening to the drummer throwing in his machine gun fills which cue Susan to open up and make her guitar scream . This is a very tight band that must be a massive party live !
7 . Above The Sun – Bella 2:58 - Above The Sun is another returning Bongo Boy artist that can rock in their own particular island way . I am really impressed with the bass player . He and the percussion section are locked in while the background singers provide a bit of old-time soul . The vocals are good and flow nicely over the massive groove the band is laying down . Even when the guitar steps up for some nice picking , that bass is still there almost daring the guitar to take the spotlight . Really , the entire band sounds good , but for me personally there is something almost magical about the groove the percussion and bass are putting out .
9 . Mark Baxter - Love Is ( acoustic version ) 3:19 - This is an old school love song that is reminiscent of the 1950s early love songs that were considered scandalous at the time . Overall , Mark has a good voice and the music is well played . I just can ’ t shake the Buddy Holly feeling of this song , ( Just to clear that is a very good thing .)
10 . NazB - Stay For Better 3:48 - Interesting beginning . Is that an organ that morphs into an electric piano ? I dig the powerful , yet simplistic drums . You don ’ t need to be John Bonham to rock . NazB has a very unique voice . I hear a reggae vibe which is cool . I like this song but find myself wondering what their live show is like . I have the feeling that at any moment this song could erupt into a blistering jam , but I imagine that is saved for the live show .
