Title: Sexual Preference Doesn't Matter On And Off The Court

Last year, there was quite a big event in pro sports. The event was that Jason Collins, a veteran basketball player in the NBA (National Basketball Association), came out in April 29, 2013. The astonishing fact is that he is the first active player in the NBA, NFL, NHL, or MLB to come out. After he came out, it is giving big shock on USA, because he was even player who comes out no matter he is active player or retired. Of course, there may be some disturbance which could make it difficult for Jason Collins hard to play in the NBA. But, almost every person in America thinks his act was brave and that will have a positive effect on and off the court.

First of all, it seems that the act of Jason Collins is havinggiving some influence on the court. After his announcement, Derrick Gordon who is playing for the University of Massachusetts also came out this month. It shows us that the act of Jason Collins changed the mind of players who have different sexual preference. It means that he makes them think that they do not have to hide the truth. In the result of polls on sportsillustrated, 53% of people who think coming out of Collins willbe a positive step for pro sports and 58% of people think more pro athletes will come out.Besides, Kobe Bryant, famous basketball player in the NBA, said "The act of Jason Collins gave the message‘It's okay to be yourself’to youngers."
