A highly appreciated movie which started a craze that runs even up till today, this became the first ever movie to run continously for 25 weeks, and later it achieved the record of playing for 60 consecutive weeks all over India. The New York Times stated that Sholay "revolutionized Hindi filmmaking and brought true professionalism to Indian script writing", which was completely true as the movie also later affected the popularity and importance of script writing.
