8. As a manager, how can you formulate the strategies of your institution?
As mentioned earlier, BoldWin School is founded on a vision / purpose, this answers the“ why” question, why do we exist? that is“ to lead and inspire positive change within our community ‏.”‏ Then comes the“ what” question, what are the means of realizing the purpose, the mission the school is willing to undertake, that is“ raising up creative leaders of the future, who dare to change the world ‏.”‏ Then comes the the strategy, the“ how” question, how are we going to realize our mission? that is by“ adopting world-class educational system that embraces technology, creativity, character building, talents, academic excellence and physical well being and achievement ‏.”‏ This is the global perspective of how the school is founded, now when it comes to lower level goals, they are treated somehow in the same manner. We work with each individual within the organization to formulate his / her objectives that somehow serves the global purpose, mission and strategy. Then we ask the individual to come up with how he / she is going to achieve those goals.
9. What are the factors you consider as a manager in order to make better decisions?
The factors are simple, I ask myself one question: Will this matter serve the purpose of the school( mentioned above ‏?(‏ if the answer is yes, a pro decision is taken, if the answer is no, decision follow suit. You see, the compass is the purpose, which guides almost everything within the school. ‎10‎. How are you cooping with technological developments?
The rapid developments of technology has created a world where people have an unprecedented ability to connect with each other and shape new ways of working, learning, interacting, playing and solving problems. Thus, technology has changed our lives to the point that even our social life has dramatically been digitized. This ‏-‏nochanging fact of life is our present and the future, and whether we like this change or not, we can’ t ignore the need to adapt to it. Adaptation to change is done best by embracing change and advocating it. The early adopters, the opinion leaders, who are the first to embrace changes especially on the technological side of life, are the ones who get all the candy in the end.
We, at BoldWin School, see an amazing opportunity presented to us by technology. We believe that technology, if wisely used, empowers our teachers, staff, students and parents towards the realization of a better outcome. The presence of the internet, portable computer devices( laptops and tablets) and smart phones have made access to information very easy, and this presents big questions about the real value of teaching, books and going to a place called school. Thus, we believe that schools ‎30‎ years ago can no longer exist today and that schools have to re-invent themselves to fit within the mindset of the students. Our students today are far more equipped to the modern life we are living in than we the adults, and this is a challenge few school leaders have the courage to admit and stand up for.
