Usage of Tablets In Education
Boldwin International School is proud to be the first school that does a full integration of the tablet
device within its education system in the Shouf District and Mount Lebanon. Few schools in
Lebanon have already done so and experiencing amazing results.
“We believe that technology has the power to transform the way our children learn and their
perception of education” said Naja Faysal, the CEO of Boldwin School at the graduation ceremony
June 2013.
Our children are digital natives, they are passionate about technology, so why don’t we use it to
boost their perception of the school and their motivation to study and do well academically?
The Tablet integration has the following benefits:
1- Reduce school-bag weight
2- Reduce the cost of books
3- Reduce the impact of printing on the environment
(environment-friendly ebooks)
4- Increase student motivation to learn
5- Take advantage of modern interactive
applications that boost student understanding
6- Take advantage of the internet via instant
dictionary tools and search engine services
7- Take advantage of multimedia (audio-visual
attributes)
8- Enhance the learning and teaching experience
Our integration DOES NOT ignore the need for
handwriting. Thus, we have used e-Books on tablets, yet we have kept paper copy books where
student would write his work during class or assignments at home. Of course, as the students
progress in their learning, the use of email communication with their teachers on assignments
would increase as well as teachers using interactive white boards and other highly advanced tools
for teaching.
