ST RICT LY T WEENS
Trip to t he Tetons
My trip to the Tetons had so many fun things to do every day. We started the 23-
hour bus ride on a Saturday afternoon. Sleeping on the bus was the hardest part of
the trip. We took a few stops on the trip to get gas, food, and just to walk around
to get our legs stretched out. Once we arrived in Jackson Hole, Wyoming we got
to roam around stores with our field group. Then we took pictures under the ant-
ler arches. When we got to TSS (Teton Science Schools), girls got assigned to their
lodge, and boys got assigned to their lodge. The rest of the night was pretty low key.
The first full day, we went on
a hike and saw baby deer with
their mother, a marmot, and fish.
We also got a great view of the
mountains. We ate at the lake
where we sat on logs. For din-
ner, it was a Mexican Fiesta.
The next day we went to Phelps
Lake and hiked around it. We
took several trails and saw many
animals such as a mother and
child moose, several mule deer,
mergansers (ducks), some small
fish, birds, chipmunks, etc. We
ate sandwiches and Oreos, fruit, vegetables, and salads at Phelps Lake. We were
working hard, but we also had some time to be one with nature! For dinner, we had
Fried Chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, salad, and brownies!
The next day we got to go to Yellowstone! Old Faithful erupted just 10 minutes
after our arrival, which was perfect. But even cooler --- Beehive geyser erupted at
the same time. A rare double viewing. Next, we got to choose between a 7-mile
hot spring and waterfall hike or a hike around the upper geyser basin to see a differ-
ent set of hot springs and geysers. We also had the opportunity to do some shop-
ping and enjoy ice cream. After the big group picture, we traveled to Colter Bay
to have fun in Jackson Lake, relax around the campfire, and play games while we
cooked a BBQ dinner.
