The most difficult task your vacation should hand you is choosing Thai or Mexican food for lunch. So, let’s not allow your hair to distract you from a good meal. Keep it simple. The fastest way to get on with your day in the hot sun, and in style, is pulling your hair up and away from your neck and face.

I like to achieve this look with what's known as a Pineapple. Starting from the back of your head, grab all of your hair with one hand, twisting inward and upward, so that all of your hair from the back is contained and pulled to about the middle of your scalp. Secure this solid, single twist with hair pins, while being sure to leave the remaining hair at the top loose. Next, decide how you would like your face to be framed. The Mohawk effect will require just a few more pins for the loose hair to appear standing up. Cascading hair to the left or right side of your face is also an option.

The easiest way to transition from the beach to a fun evening out with friends is to prep your evening look with a stylish preset. Depicted above are Bantu Knots and the remnant curls, left after the knots are loosened. The knots can be pretty time consuming, depending on how small or intricate you want to make them.

To accomplish this transitional look, section your hair into four quarters. Choose a section of hair to start with and part it into rows. Take one row and create square tufts of hair, tightly twisting each square, one-by-one, until the twist coils into a knot. Twist the remaining end hair around the base of the knot to secure it. Repeat until all of your hair is in Bantu Knots.

This style is perfect to do just before leaving for your getaway, and can be worn on the busy, sweaty, hot days at the beach. Later, they can easily be unwound to reveal beautiful waves and curls. WARNING: The ending style can cause selfies to spontaneously become a hair-flipping hazard. Please, proceed with caution.
