This is a question I have often asked myself time and time again. It seems that the answers are always right in front of us but are oftentimes “hidden” by fears, doubts, inadequacies etc. It is such a simple question with an equally simple answer that always seem to escape me. I usually find the answer once I’ve gotten to the next phase. Isn’t that funny?
We are such creatures of habit and it’s so hard for us to be flexible and fluid but, it’s the very thing we should be/do. Life is so funny and always has lessons for us to learn that seemingly piggy-backs off some life experience.
In life, there are ups and down and ebbs and flows and cycles. We usually repeat lessons that we haven’t learned in some shape or form. It’s not until we look inward that we find the answers. Knowledge of oneself is where we usually come to terms with who we are and who we’re becoming. We see things from a different perspective not because of some grand design or gesture but because we become more aware. Aware of our surroundings, likes and dislikes, self-worth, vulnerabilities and so on and so forth.
The knowledge of oneself is the bridge to “getting there”! One must only listen. A wise man once said,
“Your visions will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.”
― C.G. Jung.
Carl Gustav Jung was a Swiss psychiatrist and founder of the school of analytical psychology. He proposed and developed the concepts of the extroverted and introverted personality, archetypes, and the collective unconscious. The issues that he dealt with arose from his personal experiences. Let’s look into this shall we?
When you look inward, you see clearer, and you hear only your voice. I’m sure we’ve all had a time in our lives where someone who had authority over us told us who or what we were going to be. It was either positive or negative, right? What we don’t realize sometimes is that, it’s THAT voice that rings loud in our subconscious. This is why it is so important to keep positive people around you.
We have to guard our hearts and our minds as if our lives depended on it! Because guess what; It does! Life is a constant lesson of us evolving into who we were meant to be. It is the very essence of our character that was predestined before we were created in the womb.
So, let’s listen to that still small voice that is inside all of us and grow. Grow in acknowledgment of our being. Connect with yourself just like the need to connect with others. Start by spending time with yourself. Set a day and time of quiet and reflection. Write down what comes to mind. The more you do this the more you will learn, you.
We were created to be happy and at peace and successful in our own right. Think about the times in your childhood that brought you happiness. I can almost guarantee that those times were so simple and innocent and uncomplicated. Remember how that made you feel? You can have that feeling again as you sit with yourself in meditation.
Be courageous and fearless and unstoppable and in tune with you!
