Simulation Center Enhances Education of Students and Beyond
The Simulation Center in the School of Nursing is a six room suite
focused on all types of simulated learning. The mission of the
Center is to provide experiential learning opportunities for students,
faculty and community partners using state of the art technologies
and best practices in simulation education.
To promote the use of simulation in health care education to meet the needs for collaboration,
communication and teamwork resulting in improved care, enhanced safety, and reduction of human
error. The vision of the Simulation Center is to be recognized as an accredited, state of the art interdisciplinary simulation center in health care education in the Northwest.
The Simulation center is meeting the mission very well. Work in the simulation Center included:

Over 400 simulations last year.
Implementation of a peer review system for simulation faculty
Initiation as a “Gaumard Premiere site” and co- hosting of a regional conference in Spring 2013
focused on emerging technology and teaching strategies in simulation.
Serving as the site for several research studies focusing on the effectiveness of simulation as a
teaching/learning strategy.
Attainment of national certification in simulation education for two faculty and the center’s
manager.
Collaboration with several agencies in the community to provide simulation services.
The vision of having national accreditation is also being lived. Under the leadership of Director
Becky Bunderson, MS, RN, CHSE, the Simulation Center
was visited in
