Causes of Eating Disorders -

One thing that all eating disorder sufferers have in common is the need to feel in control. One reason the sufferer may develop an eating disorder is due to the fact that their life may not be in control. They may develop the eating disorder to feel as though one thing in their life is in their control. One influence that can trigger

an eating disorder is outside influences by the media. The need to feel thin and look

like the supermodels in the magazine pages is constant and can result in feeling unsatisfied with our bodies. The media and society have made it very clear that to be happy, we have to be thin. Seeing images like these may make a girl feel as though she has to live up to these

beautiful models and therefore create an eating disorder. Some people become anorexic or bulimic because they feel as though they will be accepted and loved. They will basically starve themselves to death to try and live up to someone else's unrealistic expectations for the perfect body size and shape! Eating Disorders are complex and need time, patience and the help of medically trained professionals. The recovery

process can take weeks, months and even years. But one thing that every recoverer needs is the mental strength to believe they can change. They have to do this if they are going to survive.
