“ Beginning again as if I first joined Jigu ” Interview with CEO Hyunjoon Kim of New Jigu : a new chapter in Long Island

As a retail store Harlem125 , New Jigu Trading Corp . opened its first business in 1978 , grew into a wig company Jigu Trading in 1983 , and now continues its 40 years of success story in New York in its new home Long Island , NY . CEO Hyunjoon Kim succeeded the founder Chairman Jongchul Hong ’ s business philosophy and played a leadership role in the Korean wig industry . Sitting down with him , we are about to learn about New Jigu ’ s vision .
1978 년 뉴지구의 전신인 할렘 125가 소매점에서 출발 , 1983년에 ‘ 지구 트레이딩 ’ 을 열면서 가발 전문업체로 뉴욕에서 40년의 역사를 이어온 뉴지구 ( New Jigu Trading Corp .) 가 올해부터 롱아일랜드로 터전을 옮겨 새로운 역사를 열었다 . 1대 홍종철 회장의 경영철학을 계승해 한 인 대표 가발 업체의 리더로 뛰고 있는 김현준 사장을 통해 뉴지구의 청사진을 만나보았다 .
1 . 새해를 새 보금자리에서 맞이하셨겠네요 . 뉴지구의 신사옥 , 어떤 곳인지 소개 부탁드립니다 .
롱아일랜드의 포트 워싱턴에 사무실이 위치해 있고요 . 시오셋 ( Syossot ) 에 있 는 물류 창고는 6만 스퀘어피트의 단층 건물로 , 자동화 시스템을 구축했습니 다 . 이전하면서 WMS ( 웨어하우스 매니지먼트 시스템 ) 를 도입해서 하드웨어 만 아니라 소프트웨어를 갖췄다는 데 의의가 있죠 .
1 . You must have started the new year in the company ’ s new home . Can you talk us through New Jigu ’ s new location ?
The office is located in Port Washington in Long Island . The automated 60,000 sq . ft . single-story warehouse is located in Syosset . It is a meaningful move because we also incorporated Warehouse Management System software along with the updated hardware .
2 . The Woodside building was where you began the millennium . The location was indeed great . What brought you to a new place ?
Our office in Woodside , NY was meaningful to us because it was where New Jigu started and also the birthplace of the Harlem125 brand . But the outdated design caused inefficiency in inventory , order pickup , and loading among others . It ' s like having an old engine in a good car . The location was great , but not so for
