Blues - Waterford United FC Programme v Longford Town Friday 23rd May 2014 | Page 3

Welcome To The RSC by Chairman John O’Sullivan Hello everyone, and welcome to the RSC for tonight’s SSE Airtricity League tie with league leaders Longford. I’d like to extend a warm Waterford welcome to Jim Hanley and the officials, players, staff and supporters of Longford Town FC. How we lost that game against Shelbourne here two weeks ago I’ll never know. To absolutely dominate the runaway league leaders, and then come away with nothing to show for it, was simply astonishing. It was a great performance from the lads though, and a great game of football to watch, and if we keep playing like that then we will not be far away come the end of the season. on board and start tomorrow. I’d like to say a special word of thanks to Michael Drohan for his tireless work for the club, inside and outside of the office. This goes on all season long, but his work has been just tremendous over the last number of weeks when we were going through a particularly rough time. Thanks Michael! Big thank you again to all the fans in Block E for their tireless noise and singing last time we were here. I hope that the incident with the Shels supporters will not deter anyone from coming out or from locating themselves in Block E. Nobody likes to see that kind of carry on at any football ground, and it’s one of the few plus points about this division that we very rarely do. Those people should be ashamed of themselves, and ashamed to call themselves supporters of Shelbourne FC. I’d also like to thank our own fans for the manner in which they behaved, and the admirable restraint shown in the face of such provocation. I thought the young lads were absolutely brilliant down in Wexford last weekend, it was great to see them perform so well, and great to see the team brush aside the previous result for a deserved win. We started with five teenagers, and only three of An excellent League debut for the 14 who featured are older than young Matthew Connor Finally, once more we need 23.
