Mrs. Piacentini is often referred to as "Mrs. P" by her students. Q. What are some of your favorite pastimes? A. I love to spend time with my boys; we enjoy playing Super Mario together. I love to sing, although I?m not very good at it, and dairy farm, which I?ve done for 3 and a half years. Likewise, I take pleasure in going on nature walks to explore outside! Q. How long have you been teaching? A. I?ve been teaching for 23 years, and have been with AOA for a year and a half. Q. When did you decide you wanted to become a math teacher? A. Growing up I knew I wanted to become a teacher and work with children. I attempted working with kindergartners, and very soon realized that was not what I wanted to do. In high school, however, I volunteered for a program for assisting teachers, which in my circumstance happened to be a math teacher. I found joy in giving assistance to this math teacher, and that is when I realized I wanted to become one myself. Q. Is math your favorite subject? A. Yes, I?d say it is. It was always one of my favorites growing up, psychology being my second favorite. Q. What is your favorite part about teaching the students at AOA? A. My favorite part is the openness and ability to talk about Jesus without having to hold back my faith, and praying with my students. Q. Why do you believe cheating is wrong? A. In the Bible, God clearly states lying is a sin, and cheating is lying. My job as a teacher is to present opportunities to help my students understand what they cannot understand, and to help guide them in truth. Cheating brings unfavorable consequences and ruins others? perception and trust towards you. Q. How, through your job, do you reveal the nature of God to your students? A. By first getting to know my students, and forming a relationship, which is important in showing them the love of God, not just to teach math, but to teach of Christ. School News 5
