BeingYourself vs. BeingWhat
YouWant ToBe
By Trinity H.
Be who you want to be. Love who you
want to love. Do what you want to do. Sound
familiar? These phrases are the phrases our
society is built upon. They sound enticing,
exciting, and bold. But if you stop and think
about each phrase, ?you want? is the core of
them all. It shows that no one else has a say
in your life. It shows the rebellious side of
our human nature. And it shows that what
you want is all that is important. But what
does God want for you?
When you truly think about it, you can
either be who you are or who you want to
be. Though they sound like the same thing
they are entirely different. When you choose
to be you, the true you, you are choosing to
be completely vulnerable before God. You
are letting Him shape you into the unique
human being He wants you to be. On the
contrary, when you choose to be who you
want to be, you are putting up walls between
you and God. You are giving Him boundaries.
Choosing who you want to be isn?t truly
embracing your full potential. You are
limiting yourself to the ideal you created.
How much greater is the plan of the Creator
than the creation?
Being the person you created leads to
a path of utter misery. It sparks a flame that
will grow into an inferno of self-pity,
self-conscience, and selfishness. And if you
haven?t noticed, all those words start with
?self?. The road of ?what you want? is a road
of three companions: me, myself, and I.
There is only one way out of that life:
embracing the you He created you to be.
Getting out of the ideal you created is tough.
There will be odd looks, sarcastic comments,
and occasional smirks, but it?s all worth it in
the end. You will never regret the decision to
be you. The only way to know who God
wants you to be is to know Him first. He has
amazing plans for your life. Believe, trust it,
and embrace it. He will do amazing things
with the you He created.
Bethe"you" that Hewantsyoutobe.
