MI VIAJE A
My Trip to Mexico
By Sam m y C.
This past holiday season, God blessed
me and my family by being able to travel
together to celebrate in Mexico! We visited
some of the most beautiful towns just outside
of Mexico City.
Mexico City is the huge capital city and
is full of tall buildings and busy lifestyles, but it
has plenty of nature that fills the air with life,
freshness and color. On every single street,
even with all the buildings, it is surrounded by
trees. Something that I admire about the city is
that the majority of the streets are all clean.
Around 50 years ago, a campaign was created
and the slogan was ?la basura a su lugar ? (?put
the trash in its place?), and fortunately now the
results are showing.
Of course, something that everyone can
expect when traveling to Mexico is to find
8
interesting food, and my trip was just that. I
usually am not a person to try new stuff that
easily; however, for it being the last days of
the year and to challenge myself, I decided to
try as many new things as I could. Ranging
from traditional Mexican foods such as, mole,
totopos, enchiladas, tacos, and pozole, to
something as different and unique like ramen,
sushi, oysters, and açai, my taste buds were
fascinated!
On the 23rd, we rented a car and began
our tour around 3 beautiful towns not too far
away from Mexico City. We spent both
Christmas Eve and Christmas Day in
Querétaro, a town 3 hours away from Mexico
City. While there, we walked around,
discovered beautiful stores, and got to see a
Christmas parade. We also had the most
unusual plan to play Jenga at midnight the
24th. We had a delicious Christmas breakfast
on the 25th at Hotel Casa de la Marquesa, and
enjoyed hearing a lovely and talented old man
playing the piano in the background.
