AOA Adds
Honor Roll
Accolade
By Madelynne R.
Earlier this school year, AOA
introduced an honor roll award for all high
schoo l students. The honor roll was designed to
encourage students to do their best work and
also to give high school students additional
accolades for their college applications.
1.What are the criteria in order to be included
in AOA's honor roll?
This was based on GPA. To qualify for
one of the honor rolls, you had to have a GPA of
at least 3.0. GPA only looks at completed, closed
out courses. It does not factor in any courses
that students are still currently enrolled in. This
also only applies to courses that receive high
school credit.
4. When did the first honor roll come out?
The first honor roll was announced in
October of 2019.
5.Where can students and their families
see the honor roll?
To protect student privacy, AOA is not
posting a list of all student names. Students and
parents will be notified via email.
6. How can the honor roll help students
wanting to go to college?
Usually, college applications ask for
academic awards or recognition received. This
can add to that list.
2. Is the honor roll for all grades, for
middle school, or for high school? 7. How can the honor roll help develop a
student?s character?
Just high school, since middle school
classes do not count towards graduation credits. Colossians 3:23 tells us to work at
whatever we do with our whole heart, as working
for the Lord and we want to celebrate the
students who do excel in that way with their
academics. If this is something students want to
achieve, then they can set it as a goal and work
towards achieving. Our teachers are here to
help!
3. How often will the honor roll be
published?
Once every 3 months, in January, April,
July, and October.
