Spending T ime
with God
By Rebekah V.
Oftentimes, students can get so
overwhelmed with projects, sports, jobs,
and extracurricular activities that they
tend to brush aside the one of the most
important factors of their life. That factor
is taking the extra time to spend time with
their Heavenly Father. It can be tricky for
students to juggle so many things all at
once, and sadly, they tend to focus on the
more ?visual? things at hand. Below are
listed some tips on how you can
purposefully and meaningfully dedicate
some time to the Lord. contact with God. Thank Him whenever
you feel blessed, received a miracle, or
experienced joy throughout the day. Ask
Him for his guidance as you go about
your business, seeking Him in everything
you do. Put some worship music on as
you prepare for the day, head to practice,
or do some homework. Never let those
moments pass when you can give God
the glory and praise for helping you
through a tough time.
Wak e u p ear lier t h an u su al! Yes,
it is never a student?s favorite thing to
have to roll out of bed before the alarm
clock goes off, but there is something
special about spending the first waking
moments with God. In this time, you can
start off with prayer, thanking God for a
new day and another chance to live for
Him. You can do a simple devotion that
takes only a few minutes. Spend some
quiet time writing in a journal or enjoying
just being the in presence of God. Yes, it
takes some will-power, but waking up
earlier to spend some time with God is
always a great start to your day. This can be a set amount of time that
easiest for you to connect with the Father,
when it is just you and God. Maybe it is
taking a few minutes before bed and
reading the Bible. Maybe it is going out
for a walk and soaking in God?s beauty
around you. Maybe it is having a
one-on-one prayer conversation when
you are in the shower or driving
someplace. Whenever you are alone,
undisturbed by others, that is a great
opportunity to seek God. Spending time
with God doesn?t have to be a routine,
something set or structured. Pray and ask
God what would be the best way for you
to connect with Him, maybe He has a
different plan in mind. God always knows
what your heart needs and He is
desperately in pursuit of spending time
with you too.

simple. As you go about your day, keep in
