Spending T ime with God By Rebekah V. Oftentimes, students can get so overwhelmed with projects, sports, jobs, and extracurricular activities that they tend to brush aside the one of the most important factors of their life. That factor is taking the extra time to spend time with their Heavenly Father. It can be tricky for students to juggle so many things all at once, and sadly, they tend to focus on the more ?visual? things at hand. Below are listed some tips on how you can purposefully and meaningfully dedicate some time to the Lord. contact with God. Thank Him whenever you feel blessed, received a miracle, or experienced joy throughout the day. Ask Him for his guidance as you go about your business, seeking Him in everything you do. Put some worship music on as you prepare for the day, head to practice, or do some homework. Never let those moments pass when you can give God the glory and praise for helping you through a tough time. Wak e u p ear lier t h an u su al! Yes, it is never a student?s favorite thing to have to roll out of bed before the alarm clock goes off, but there is something special about spending the first waking moments with God. In this time, you can start off with prayer, thanking God for a new day and another chance to live for Him. You can do a simple devotion that takes only a few minutes. Spend some quiet time writing in a journal or enjoying just being the in presence of God. Yes, it takes some will-power, but waking up earlier to spend some time with God is always a great start to your day. This can be a set amount of time that easiest for you to connect with the Father, when it is just you and God. Maybe it is taking a few minutes before bed and reading the Bible. Maybe it is going out for a walk and soaking in God?s beauty around you. Maybe it is having a one-on-one prayer conversation when you are in the shower or driving someplace. Whenever you are alone, undisturbed by others, that is a great opportunity to seek God. Spending time with God doesn?t have to be a routine, something set or structured. Pray and ask God what would be the best way for you to connect with Him, maybe He has a different plan in mind.
