Calling all knight writers ! As many of you know , ICA ? s Drama Club performs a fantastic spring play every year . Mrs . Nice works very hard to find the right play for her students to put on and learn about the intricacies of acting over Zoom . Last year , the ICA Knight Players put on a production of Virtually Ever After , showing off their talents through fairy tales .
However , things are changing a bit this year for the selection of the spring play . This year , Mrs . Nice and the Drama Club are holding a writing contest to choose the play that will be put on . One lucky ICA writer ( from grades 7-12 ) will be privileged to see their work come to life through a Zoom production put on by the Knight Players !
The play must contain 6-12 actors , 6-8 shorter scenes , and written so that it can be adapted to a Zoom setting . Mrs . Nice is looking for the play to be about an hour long with very few props , as it will be put on by actors only being seen from the waist up ! There is no specific genre or style required for the play , but keep in mind that it should be appropriate for a Christian environment with 7-12th grade actors and viewers of all ages . Mrs . Nice suggests that writers stay away from any topic that can be too heavy to be digested by the younger viewers . The play doesn ? t necessarily have to be light-hearted , but definitely be sure to pay attention to the audience .
Mrs . Nice will recruit the help of some ICA English teachers to decide the winner of the contest . They are looking for strong writing , strong character development , and a strong plot . This should be a play with a nicely founded theme that is not just entertaining , but maybe even inspirational . They want it written for a decent amount of characters with smooth transitions between scenes as well as a clear direction to avoid a big jumble of plots . The play should be able to capture peoples ? eyes and draw them in to watch .
How exciting is it that the spring play will be developed by the mind of an ICA student ?! Submissions are due to Mrs . Nice by December 1 , 2023 , at 4 PM PST .
