Lots of people celebrate Thanksgiving. But everyone has different traditions. In case you don't know what traditions are they are customs or beliefs that are passed down from generation to generation. Here are some family traditions that people do on Thanksgiving.

The first tradition is family gatherings. This is also the most common tradition. When spending time with family people sometimes have small customs they do. My family names the turkey before we eat it. Watching football games and playing pin the feather on the turkey are other customs people enjoy.

On Thanksgiving people celebrate gratitude by helping the less fortunate. People

sometimes volunteer at homeless shelters and serve the poor a Thanksgiving dinner. Other things that people do to give thanks is make gratitude trees and chains or participate in a turkey trot, which is a race for charity. One more thing people do to show thanks is pray or go to church.

Have you ever heard of the Macy’ Day Parade? If you haven’t it’s a parade that celebrates Thanksgiving. Many people have made attending the parade part of their tradition. The President of the United State also has a Thanksgiving tradition to show thanks. The President pardons a turkey from becoming food as a special tradition.

No, I didn’t forget the biggest tradition. I call it, “Eat Until You to Drop.” On Thanksgiving most people have Turkey and so much more. Like some of my favorites: sweet potatoes, macaroni and cheese, stuffing, cranberry sauce and all kinds of pies. I Hope these traditions sparked an interest and an appetite in you. Enjoy your Thanksgiving!
