Revere's Wells Street Tavern
Revere’s Wells Street Tavern is a restaurant on 505 Wells St, Delafield, with an upscale pub feel. You can find Revere’s in what looks like an old colonial style house, the large brick patio is perfect for dining out in the summer. Inside, you will find a spacious restaurant that can best be described as an Irish Pub. Revere’s has an enormous menu that features your “not-so-typical” Wisconsin bar food. The restaurant prides itself on making traditional bar food gourmet masterpieces. The Irish Mist Mussels (Steamed mussels in Irish Mist liquor broth) are an Irish pubs spin on steamed mussels. The Roasted Garlic Shrimp Pasta (Mushrooms, onions, baby spinach, roasted garlic cream sauce, penne pasta, tomatoes, and parmesan cheese), is a delicious vegetarian option. But both of these are downplayed by the Revere’s burger menu. All American Burger, On Wisconsin Burger, Revere Burger, Wells Street Burger, Smiley Barn Burger, Mushroom Swiss Burger, Cajun Burger, and the Patty Melt are all part of Revere’s menu. They all bring a combination of different tastes that will only leave you wanting more. However, there is one burger that outshines all the rest. They say if looks could kill, this burger would give you a heart attack, even if you only saw it in your peripheral vision. It is known as the Double Revere Extraordinaire. The Burger is made of two Angus burgers, cheddar cheese, apple wood smoked bacon, haystack onions, and Irish whiskey BBQ sauce, between two grilled cheese sandwiches. Oh yeah, and it’s served with a pound of fries. If you are looking for a great casual dinner in Delafield, then Revere’s Wells Street Tavern is a perfect place to sit down, relax, and get a great burger.
The Kiltie
With the unrelenting winter we had this year; it is hard to imagine that summer is just around the corner. Summertime brings the mid to high 70’s, days on area lakes, and of course trips to the Kiltie. A ten minute drive from Delafield, it is a favorite custard hotspot for all ages. There is nothing better than visiting this 1950’s drive-in on a hot summer night and ordering some of the homemade custard. The Kiltie hasn’t strayed from its roots as other drive-in’s have. The Kiltie doesn’t use speakers to take orders, and they still only have three flavors of custard: vanilla, chocolate, and swirl.
A seasonal custard stop, the Kiltie opens in May and stays open until mid-September.
It doesn’t matter how old you are, or what you order, everyone gets a kick out of the fun, friendly atmosphere. Whether it is the Scottie or my favorite--The Turtle Sunday--the Kiltie custard keeps everyone coming back, and Lake Country loves the trip back in time to this drive-in.
