The Lumber Inn

Who knew that Delafield used to have its very own lumberyard? Key words there: “USED TO.” It has been 31 years since one could be seen on 617 Wells St. All that is there now is a parking lot, and a small building. However, the walls of this building are ordained with relics from the past history of the land. Although the walls are rich with history, they are not the center of attention. What everyone seems to notice when they walk into the Lumber Inn is the Iron Skillet and the enchanting aroma of breakfast food. Founded in 1983, the Lumber Inn has been serving up eggs and home fries to everyone from bikers coming in off the trail to Sunday morning churchgoers. On any given morning, you can find the local restaurant packed, so make sure to get there early, because there always seems to be a line. Believe me when I say: it is worth the wait. With a menu ranging from eggs and pancakes, all the way to Mexican food, it is hard to not find at least one thing you like. Put simply, The Lumber Inn is a good old family diner. If you want service with a smile and reasonable prices, then wake up early and head on over to the Lumber Inn.

Great Harvest Bread Company

Warning… if you are gluten free, avert your eyes. On the other hand, if you are a fan of deliciously, fluffy homemade bread, sweet baked treats, and amazing sandwiches and soups, or anything else with copious amounts of gluten, then Great Harvest Bread Company is for you.

Great Harvest Bread Company recently opened in Delafield (603 Genesee St,) and ever since, no one has been able to get enough of what is best described as Santa’s Bread Shop. When first walking into Great Harvest, you might think to yourself that there was not just a great harvest, but a fantastic one. Large bags of flower are stacked waist high. Breads of different shapes and sizes are piled on shelves. And then there are the baked goods. No matter if you are just there to buy bread, or the various soups and sandwiches, you can hardly resist buying something from the counter of sweet sugary goodness. Whatever you purchase, Great Harvest’s quiet and comfortable atmosphere makes it a great spot to lunch.
